White House Refuses to Answer Questions About Green Jobs Czar
More than five months after the Obama administration announced the hiring of its “green jobs czar,” Van Jones (right), the White House has refused to explain whether it knew of Jones admitted black nationalist and radical communist history and just who hired the advisor. Also questions continue to fester about how Jones, who has an arrest history, passed security clearances for his White House position. Cliff Kincaid, an editor at Accuracy in Media, attempted to answer some of these questions when he used the Freedom of Information Act in April to request immediate access to all documents relating to the appointment of Jones to the White House Council on Environmental Quality, where he serves as special adviser for green jobs, enterprise and innovation. The Council, which hired Jones, replied that it “searched its records system and found none responsive” for Kincaid’s request. The Council recommended more information be sought at the White House Press Office, which did not respond to Kincaid’s requests about on how Jones was hired. The White House also did not reply to numerous WND requests for comment. Fox News Channel’s Glenn Beck program similarly asked the White House whether it was aware of Jones radical history. The White House provided the following response: “Mr. Jones is entirely focused on one policy goal: building clean energy incentives which create 21st century jobs that improve energy efficiency and utilize renewable resources.” The lack of available information concerning Jones is unusual since the Obama transition team previously touted it developed a seven-page questionnaire that included 63 questions about an applicant’s background and qualifications for a federal job. Kincaid pointed out that CNN reported the document was to be for “every candidate for Cabinet and other high-ranking positions in the incoming administration.” However, there is no information Jones ever filled out the document. Also, there are open questions as to how Jones obtained a White House security clearance. He spent time in jail several times, including in the wake of the 1992 Rodney King riots. Jones was the leader and founder of a radical communist and black nationalist group, the communist revolutionary organization Standing Together to Organize a Revolutionary Movement, or STORM. The organization had its roots in a grouping of black people organizing to protest the first Gulf War. STORM was formally founded in 1994, becoming one of the most influential and active radical groups in the San Francisco Bay area.

Michelle Gets a $6000 Purse
While I wouldn't say that the story of Michelle Obama's expensive alligator purse rises to the level of a scandal (much less a crisis), I have to say I'm glad to see it being reported:Earlier this week (while strolling the wooded landscape outside of Moscow), she carried a sexy black clutch, which Italian luxury house VBH boasts is their shiny black alligator manila bag - with a retail sticker price of $5,950.
The White House flatly denies that Obama bought such a high-priced accessory, and says that she was carrying a patent clutch that retails for $875.The First Lady, who has impressed with her chic, affordable style sense, embracing Everywoman brands like Gap and J.Crew, flashed the shiny handheld while walking with her husband, President Barack Obama, during their Monday meeting with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and his wife Svetlana.
Told that Obama's office denied the bag was the high-end VBH clutch, Kelly Vitko, a rep for the company replied, "It's definitely ours."

Caption This

Let's have some fun. I took this photo from a photo essay on CBS news' website, fawning over what a fashion icon Michelle Obama has become. How would you caption this photo?

Work It, Girl
There were a lot of high profile, potentially world-changing stories that came across the news wires this week. The stories ran the gamut from the sublime to the ridiculous. In Iran, people have been taking to the streets in protest of their presidential election shenanigans. Many of them have been murdered. After the 2000 American presidential election, the worst example of “protest” was Al Gore growing a beard. In North Korea, resident madman Kim Jong Il is threatening to launch a nuclear war, because it is much more important to rattle a saber instead of say, feeding your people. Oh, and President Barack Obama fired an Inspector General who was investigating one of his supporters. Nothing to see there. Naturally, one would think that the above stories would be of utmost importance. However, one would be wrong. See, there is a much more pressing issue that affects each and every person on this big blue marble we call Earth. At least according to many media sources, which buried the stories mentioned above but highlighted the one mentioned below. The Council of Fashion Designers of America held its annual awards on Monday night. Who is the Council of Fashion Designers of America? Members of the Council are like the Jedi Council, but instead of lightsabers, they wield hatpins. They protect and defend the rights of clothes-wearing citizens everywhere. In short, they are the fashion police. Most of the awards were bestowed upon the giants of the industry. Apparently, the CFDA believes that First Lady Michelle Obama is one of these giants. That’s right; Michelle Obama – the woman who wore the curtain from the old Merv Griffin Show to the Inauguration – is being recognized as a fashion icon. Michelle Obama, are they kidding? Last week, this woman was seen wearing something from the Cyndi Lauper Collection: a white top with multi-colored fabric wrapped around her stomach. It was an abomination that even Peg Bundy would not be caught in at her insane, inbred family reunion. What’s next for the First Lady, feathered boas? Somebody Needed To Say It: Our First Lady Needs Help Dressing Herself
John Hawkins at Right Wing News is right on this one. Somebody needed to say it: I'm not the sort of person who generally has anything to say about how someone dresses especially since I'm certainly not going to make anyone's "best dressed" list myself. That being said, Michelle Obama consistently wears more butt-ugly outfits than any other famous woman in America. Now, I wouldn't even bring this up except for the fact that people keep talking about Michelle Obama like she's some sort of fashion diva. Seriously? Come on, people would laugh at anybody else who regularly wears these sort of garish outfits, I know, the one where she looks like a black widow spider is probably from some famous designer and the one where she looks like a monk is probably something Lady Gaga's cousin made for her or something -- I'm just saying, give us a break on the hero worship of the Obamas. It's bad enough that the mainstream media acts like their press flacks and that they're on the cover of every magazine, but listening to people rave about Michelle Obama's wardrobe is like a bad Saturday Night Live skit.

Obama's Date Night Cost $73,000 and Leaves Huge Carbon Footprint
Apparently, Michelle Obama is not a cheap date. A $73,000 "date night" for the Obamas will cost taxpayers about $73,000. Not that I care all that much about the cost. This country has a lot bigger spending problems to face than Presidential travel. And, to a certain extent, this is one of the perks of the job. All Presidents traveled for personal pleasure, and being the President means having an entourage and a security detail everywhere you go. It’s unavoidable. What I’m much more worried about is the carbon footprint. After all, Obama wants to tax carbon emissions and regulate where our thermostats are set and what sort of vehicles we drive all in the name of thwarting what he believes will be a global warming apocalypse, yet he can whisk his wife away to New York on a gas-guzzling jet (not to mention a gas-guzzling helicopter) for a date? Obama tells me I have to change my lifestyle and sacrifice for the greater good while he’s busy flying down to New York for some fine dining and theater. If you ask me, this little move by Obama should kill his cap and trade legislation. If global warming isn’t enough of a threat to get Obama to change his lifestyle, then why should it be enough to justify regulating every part of my lifestyle? When it comes to Global Warming, Obama is Al Gore Part 2: Do as I legislate, not as I do.
