Who's In Charge?

In a completely shocking revelation, it seems that Hillary Clinton wants to expand her little corner of the Federal Government.  I wonder if anyone saw this coming?

Even before taking office, Hillary Rodham Clinton is seeking to build a more powerful State Department, with a bigger budget, high-profile special envoys to trouble spots and an expanded role in dealing with global economic issues at a time of crisis.  (NY Times article)

Given her past, I suspect that the role of the State Department will be expanded to include things like:

Health Care

Poverty

Abortion Rights

Funding for Planned Parenthood

Restriction of Religious Freedoms

Gay Rights

Taxes

....and so on.

Hillary wanted to be President.  But as the head of the State Department, she might actually be happier in her job.  She can push her agenda without taking as much flack for it as she would if she were President.  It's kind of like being ....   a First Lady.
