Heading Toward Civil War?

A few days ago, a blog I regularly read (I think it was Chuck Thinks Right, but I couldn't find it when I went back to look), had a post asking the question "Which do you think will happen sooner: Another world war or and American Civil War/Revolution?"

At the time, I didn't think much about it. The article was addressing the unrest from taxpayers in response to the fact that the current administration seems to be hellbent on passing legislation that the people don't want and that will bankrupt our nation. My initial thought was that, yes, there is certainly unrest, but for the most part patriotic taxpaying citizens would probably not take up arms.

Just a week or two later and the more I think about that, the less certain I am.

One could argue that we are already in a World War, of sorts. Islamists seem to be intent on battling everyone who does not agree with them. The last time I checked, there were twenty-some armed conflicts going on in the world today. Every one of those conflicts involved Muslims and their neighbors. I don't think this will ever end. The Muslim world is determined to destroy all of us "infidels" and that sentiment among them is growing stronger.

After the events of the past week have transpired, however, I began re-thinking my thoughts on a U.S. civil war. There is a growing divide in our nation, no doubt. That divide is primarily between those who have fiscally conservative views, both conservatives and libertarians on the one side, and leftists on the other side.

However, there aren't just two sides. In the U.S., we also have a large and growing Muslim population. Within that population is a large number of people who are willing to wage war against the "infidels" here on our own soil.

If our nation were embroiled in merely an ideological battle between right and left, I'd be less inclined to believe we would ever head toward civil war. The "Muslim Factor" changes things, in my opinion. What it does is add to the current ideological differences, the element of rising violence that threatens both sides. The likelihood of ever increasing violence could have one of two effects: It could bring the right and the left together in a battle for the survival of American freedoms. Or it could move us farther apart.

What's happening is that the "Muslim Factor" is tearing this nation farther apart than it would have otherwise. This is due to a number of factors:

The first is that the left, and especially the leftist media, is trying to deny that there is a danger from Islam. They have always wanted to portray the "War on Terror" as the "Overseas Contingency against a small group of radicals." The left has always denied that there is good and evil in the world. This world view makes them believe that if only we could be "friends" with Islamists, the threat would go away. I don't have to tell readers of this blog how stupid that idea is. We could spend hours on that idea alone.

The second factor is that the left is not interested in American Freedoms. The left is more interested in diversity. They see diversity as a strength. It is not, inherently, a strength. A dozen or so years ago Bill Clinton stood on the Bully Pulpit and proclaimed that "American's greatest strength is our diversity." NO. Our greatest strength is our freedom. And in particular, our greatest strength is our economic freedom. Capitalism, in other words. It is the freedom to benefit from the fruits of our labors that pushed the frontiers of this nation beyond 13 colonies and spread it from sea to shining sea. It is the economic freedoms that we enjoy that allowed the industrial revolution to begin here and spread around the world. It is our economic freedom that allowed America to develop the most powerful industrial complex in the world, creating more cars, homes, and other goods and services than any other nation in the world.

The left wants to give that up for diversity. They also are willing to give up our religious freedom for the sake of diversity. They've never valued the freedom OF religion, anyway. They've changed it to be a freedom FROM religion.

The left sees Islam as a part of their "grand scheme." An opportunity to further diversify the nation and to secularize it by making Christianity a decreasing majority. They ignore the threat that Islam poses because of their world view.

What this does is make the right more desperate. We must become more desperate, because if we don't Islam threatens not just our freedoms, but our very lives. As the threat within our borders grows and as the left harbors and hides that threat, Americans on the right are going to increasingly become alienated from the institutions controlled by the left.

And ultimately, the only option to save our lives may be a revolution.

Amen. Our society has become this mellow, there's no need for war, and Europe is much more liberal than the U.S., mindset. They don't recognize what freedom costs.

I hate to say it but they're ignorant to reality, but somehow enjoy blaming us for all the problems in the world, and they forget all of the "good" America has done and stood for.

Both of your ideas are real potentials. I'm ready to stand up. Our finest hour is yet to come. God Bless our America.

Scan my recent 4 blogs relating to Patriostism and freedom. Thank you on this Veterans Day for your patriotism and to those who served.

Revolutions, successful ones at any rate, require an outside source of funds for weapons, etc. That might be a tad hard to come by, in sufficient amount.

Washington beat Engald with a rag tag army.
Hopefully it will not have to happen again. But we must be ready if need be.
