Obama Cues the Satirists

David Keene writes a very good article on the Teleprompter in chief in this column, today.  I don't totally agree with all he has to say, but he makes an interesting point, nonetheless.

In many ways, Obama is the antithesis of Bush, not only politically, but personally and with regard to his image.

Bush was well liked personally by many members of the media that worked with him early on.  They disliked his political views, but had a good rapport with him as a man. With Obama, they have fallen in love with his politics, but can't seem to get along with him as a person.

With Bush, the media portrayed him as a bumbling idiot who could barely put together a complete sentence. In actual fact, Bush, while not the Rhodes Scholar Clinton was, was also never as dumb as the media wanted us to believe. Obama, on the other hand, is being portrayed as the most intelligent and articulate man who ever graced the planet. While Obama is no idiot, he is also hardly the most intelligent man alive. He struggles with thinking on the spot with a camera rolling unless he has a teleprompter telling him what his thoughts on a particular subject happen to be.

Unfortunately for Bush and for Republicans, the liberal media will always play up any negative characteristics of a Republican (see Cheney, Rove, Gingrich, et al), while portraying democrats as the party of sainthood (Ted Kennedy, Chris Dodd, Pelosi, Clinton (both of them), et al).

Btw, the media was screaming for Clinton's head during the lewinsky scandal.
